Cameron Lake is located in Kawartha Lakes near the town of Fenelon Falls. It is situated between two lakes, Balsam Lake and Sturgeon Lake which all part of the Trent Severn waterway. The Trent flows into Cameron Lake through the locks at Rosedale and exits into Sturgeon Lake through the popular Lock 34 right in Fenelon Falls. Cameron Lake is also accessible through Burnt River and Rosedale River which flows south from Haliburton, both major sources of its water.
The lake is approximately 6.7 kilometres long by 3.5 kilometres wide and is quite deep, reaching almost 50 feet in some areas. Shorelines can be rocky or sandy with multiple sand bars around the lake.
Water levels are managed by Parks Canada and are typically always stable due to the fact it is near the top of the Trent-Severn waterway system. Cameron Lake depth is mostly shallow at the shoreline but can reach 49 feet in the deepest areas. Flooding is not usually an issue for Cameron Lake, in fact water levels are normally lowered in the fall and reach their lowest point in the winter. During spring runoff the lake levels increase and reach a peak around May-June and return to normal levels for summer.
With just under 700 waterfront properties on Cameron Lakes over 3000 acre surface area, it can be categorized as mid-range density among the major lakes in the Kawartha Lakes region. Most traffic occurs on summer weekends when seasonal travelers visit, but most weekdays are quiet with much less traffic. Cameron Lake is also fairly popular for snowmobilers in the winter, with many using it as a corridor to cross to the Victoria Rail Trail.
Cameron Lakes is a very popular area for full-time residents due to its closeness to Fenelon Falls, which offers all the creature comforts including grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, big box stores, small boutique shops, and restaurants. Most properties are easily accessed through year-round serviced roads, hydro and emergency services.

With so many shallow sand bars, Cameron Lake is a great place to swim. In the peak of summer, Cameron Lake can reach a very comfortable 75+ degrees Fahrenheit. You can expect some weedy areas in the lake as well but typically they do not interfere with swimming.
Try your luck at fishing a wide range of fish, including small and large-mouth bass, walleye, northern pike and muskie. Take part in a local fishing tournament or say hello from the dock.
Cameron Lake is a great place to set up a skating rink, with the lake usually frozen enough by January. Snowmobilers also enjoy cruising across the lake and connecting to one of the many trails in the area. The Victoria Rail Trail travels directly along the eastern side of the lake.
