Geography

Where is Cameron Lake?

Cameron Lake is located in Kawartha Lakes near the town of Fenelon Falls. It is situated between two lakes, Balsam Lake and Sturgeon Lake which all part of the Trent Severn waterway. The Trent flows into Cameron Lake through the locks at Rosedale and exits into Sturgeon Lake through the popular Lock 34 right in Fenelon Falls. Cameron Lake is also accessible through Burnt River and Rosedale River which flows south from Haliburton, both major sources of its water.

Cameron Lake Geography

The lake is approximately 6.7 kilometres long by 3.5 kilometres wide and is quite deep, reaching almost 50 feet in some areas. Shorelines can be rocky or sandy with multiple sand bars around the lake.

What's the water like at Cameron Lake?

Water levels are managed by Parks Canada and are typically always stable due to the fact it is near the top of the Trent-Severn waterway system. Cameron Lake depth is mostly shallow at the shoreline but can reach 49 feet in the deepest areas. Flooding is not usually an issue for Cameron Lake, in fact water levels are normally lowered in the fall and reach their lowest point in the winter. During spring runoff the lake levels increase and reach a peak around May-June and return to normal levels for summer.

Density

Cameron Lake is also fairly popular for snowmobilers in the winter, with many using it as a corridor to cross to the Victoria Rail Trail.
