Lindsay is located in the heart of Kawartha Lakes, also known as the hub of business and commerce in the region. It is part of the Trent Severn waterway which connects most of the large lakes in the Kawartha Lakes region. It flows through the towns of Gelert, Kinmount and Burnt River.

It has become a popular area for people wanting to escape the city without straying too far away.
